EDITOR’S NOTE ON THE SECOND EDITION
The Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping (1938-1965) was published in
1989. With the approval of the author, the second edition is issued and the
book is renamed the Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping (Volume I).
The four articles included in the second edition are mainly the speeches
by the author when he served as General Secretary of the CPC Central
Committee. This book contains 43 articles and speeches.
In the second edition, a few changes have been made in wording and
punctuation of the text, and a few notes have been added to the book.
